The Example of Moses

“The scribes and Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat; therefore, do whatever they teach you and follow it; but, do not do as they do, for they do not practice what they teach.” (Matthew 23:2-3)

Moses was able to lead the Hebrew people to freedom because he humbly followed God.  He frequently admonished the people to commune with God through prayer.  When he received the Law, the Ten Commandments, on Mt. Sinai he faithfully followed the presence of God.  As Jesus dealt with the scribes and Pharisees, he rebuked them for being full of pride.  Pride is the exact opposite of humility.  As we worship and serve Jesus Christ, we worship and serve him faithfully by having a demeanor, attitude, mind, and heart of humility.

“All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted” Matthew 23:12
