Fall is a busy time of year. We’ve settled into the new school year and are gearing up for the holiday season. We have a few things coming up this month including some relaxation for the ladies, church business, fall gardens, and celebration.
Central UMC’s United Methodist Women have invited Wingate’s women to attend “Relax & Renew” on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 9:30 am to noon. This event includes Guided Imagery, an Enlightening Devotional, a Refreshing Yoga Class, and some Rejuvenating Spa Time. Please RSVP by Sunday, Oct. 14 to me at email@example.com I’ll pass your name on to Central.
Laity Sunday will be celebrated during worship on Sunday, Oct. 21. This day calls the Church to celebrate ministry of Christians of all ages in the home, workplace, congregation, community and world. On this Sunday, worship will be led by various members of our congregation, and Ervin Hamilton (our very own O.O.C.) will bring the message.
Following worship on Oct. 21, the Administrative Council will meet to vote on the budget and lay leadership for 2013. Business at this meeting will prepare us for our annual Charge Conference, which will be on Nov. 18. Lunch will be provided for those attending the council meeting, so please let Leslie Ashcraft know if you plan to be present.
Women of the church should plan to let their opinions be known at the United Methodist Women Oct. 28th meeting, which will follow the 8 am breakfast with the United Methodist Men. After nearly a year of meetings on the fourth Sunday, a decision about the best meeting times for 2013 will be discussed, as well as meeting dates for November and December of this year. If you cannot attend, but would like to voice a preference, contact Linda Ferguson.
“Trunk-or-Treat” will be held in the Wingate UMC parking lot on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 6:30 pm. For those unfamiliar with this kind of Halloween event, participants decorate their cars and pass out candy to children who are out trick-or-treating. This provides a safe, one-stop destination in our community, and a lot of fun for both participants and those attending. Please contact Denise Henton for more information, and to let her know if you plan to participate so that appropriate space will be provided.
You don’t have to be a member of our church to participate in these events. If you would like to attend and don’t know the people to notify, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org I’ll be happy to pass your name on.
Come join us!
