“I tell you the truth, whatever you did to the least of these, my brothers and sisters, you did to me.” Matthew 25:40
Mission Coordinator: Ervin Hamilton
We are involved in a number of local mission efforts as a church and in partnership with local agencies.
Loaves and Fishes of Union County is a volunteer community food pantry and 501c(3) corporation whose purposes are to distribute food, free of charge to certified needy people of Union County, North Carolina, and raise contributions of food, supplies, money and facilities.
The suggested item for Loaves and Fishes for May is three (3) 5 oz. cans of tuna. Substitutions are always welcome.
Meals on Wheels is the most recognized name in senior nutrition programs in the country. Union County has several locations and we have members who are active in delivering meals to seniors on a weekly basis.
Gleaning Ministry – During the summer and fall months, volunteers from the church join with other local people to harvest donated food from farmers fields and distribute it to people in need in the community.
Contact Ervin Hamilton if you would like to help in upcoming gleaning efforts.
Community Garden – Located on Steward St., just a few blocks from the church, and near the Fellowship Hall at Wingate UMC there is a local community garden. Ervin Hamilton, assisted by a few others, tills the soil every spring and plants both summer produce and later cool weather vegetables. Neighbors are free to help or harvest as they have the ability or the need.
In addition two of our members who support children through Compassion International are lay missionaries to the countries where those children reside.
